Rocking & Shushing
According to experts, when a baby is rocked while carried, as a result, his body muscles will start to relax and will make his heart rate slow down. Adding a continuance soothing sound like shushing will make the babies focus on the sound more and distract him from his crying. Sometimes the baby starts to scream, try with your arms rocking your baby back and forth or a put him in a carrier and walk around while making those soothing sounds calmly in his ear. This has been a very effective way that would calm my triplets within seconds when screaming.
Singing : To sooth a crying baby
Fact is that music has the safe effect on babies as it has on adults. Listening to a tune can decrease heart rates and immediately calms the baby’s nervous system. Playing some music without limiting the tunes to baby songs or lullabies and trying different genres until your baby gives positive reaction to one. But keep in mind that singing for your baby will have an instant calming effect on him because your baby is most familiar with his mom's voice.
Blocking out the stimulation
Since newborn babies are used to the quiet and dark space of their mother's womb, they might easily get overstimulated with all the new lights and sounds outside the womb, especially when having too many people in the room. When your baby starts to cry non-stop, try putting out the lights inside the bedroom. Also make sure that there is minimal noise as much as possible to soothe your crying baby. Such different situations and environment should be taken into considerations in order not allow them cause disturb to your newborn.
Using white noise app
Studies have shown that 80% of newborns tend to be soothed with white noise. It does not only help to soothe a crying infant but also provides a better sleep too.
Babies are used to noise while inside the womb - they can hear their mom going about with the daily works. Consider using a white noise app, sound like vacuum, heartbeats, a fan or a cleaner are familiar to the baby as they present the sounds he heard while inside the womb.
TIP: keep down the volume when you want to calm your baby.
The 5s's to sooth a crying baby

If your baby seems to be crying for “no reason,” paediatrician Harvey Karp advises parents to use the Five S’s, which recreate the womb environment and activate your baby’s calming reflex.
- Swaddling. Wrap your baby in a blanket so he feels secure.
- Side or stomach position. Hold your baby so they’re lying on their side or stomach. But always put them on their back when going to sleep.
- Shushing. Create “white noise” that drowns out other noises: run the vacuum cleaner, hair drier, fan or clothes drier.
- Swinging. Create a rhythmic motion of any kind. For example, take your baby for a ride in a stroller or car.
- Sucking. Let the baby suck on something, such as a pacifier.
